This week on my podcast, Real, Brave, & Unstoppable, I am re-airing an episode where I shared some of my favorite lessons learned from Brene Brown. Most of them involve living an authentic life.
I first learned of Brene’s work about 8 years ago when I read the book I Thought it Was Just Me (But it Wasn’t).
I went on to read every book she has written since, and let’s just say it all resonates deeply for me.
If you’d like to listen to the episode, you can do that HERE.
So much of Brene Brown’s work is centered around authenticity, and if you follow my work, you know the work of knowing and being my authentic self is my jam. It’s also what I help coaching clients with because I believe at the core of any issue is the relationship you have with yourself.
What I mean is, when you are able to show up as the most authentic version of yourself, you never have to question anything because you are living in integrity with your heart and soul.
You always have a compass.
Shifting gears, just a little bit, I have a question for you related to authenticity… I’ll get there, I promise.
Do you love your life?
I mean, like it’s not just “pretty good”, or “fine”. I mean, do you really love it?
Are you living it on YOUR terms? Are you living it in alignment with who you truly are?
So many people are not.
Life isn’t quite what they thought it would be. It’s fine, maybe even pretty good, but if they’re being honest, something is missing.
Your something might be little and it might be big. But it’s still something.
But life doesn’t have to be missing something.
In fact, when you are living life as the truest version of yourself, life won’t be missing anything because you’ll have it all inside of you without having to look anywhere else.
Life always has its ups and downs. But it really is possible for you to feel like you’re living it to the fullest – on your terms. It’s possible for you to live 100% in integrity with who you really are.
People tend to have a lot of resistance to this. Things come up like:
👎🏻 Yes, Kortney, but I have a lot to feel grateful for. Wanting more seems selfish.
👎🏻 Shouldn’t I just be grateful for what I have? I feel guilty for wanting more.
👎🏻 I feel lost. I don’t know what I want. I don’t even know who I am.
👎🏻 I don’t know where to start to make changes to help me live with purpose, joy, and contentment.
👎🏻 I thought I’d just have to settle and roll into old age with what I’ve got.
👎🏻 I’m too old to change now.
I could keep going, but I won’t because I’m here to tell you that all you have to do to change your life is make one decision.
You have to make the decision to start. To begin again.
My yoga teacher always says when you fall out of a posture, you get to decide how you want to show up. What’s authentic to YOU? Do you want to give up, or do you want to begin again?
You can always begin again.
I invite YOU to begin again by coming to my free masterclass, 3 Steps to Creating the Life You Want.
