On today’s episode of Real, Brave, & Unstoppable, I’m talking about celebrating your wins! (all of them – not just the big ones!).
It’s episode #50 (where did the time go?!?) and I am celebrating at the same time I’m telling you how important celebrating progress is.
We tend to downplay our little accomplishments, or even the bigger accomplishments that don’t seem as big because “everyone else” is accomplishing them. We blow them off like they’re not really that big a deal.
Our brain wants to pay attention to the things that go wrong – not the things that go right. When was the last time you celebrated yourself for doing something totally normal like go to bed on time? I thought so.
So why is it so important to celebrate?
Celebrating, or feeling accomplishment, activates the reward centers in your brain. Your brain sends out that little dopamine hit that we all know and love. If you wait until you’ve achieved your big end goal, you’re making changes that might be difficult without any sort of reinforcement that your brain NEEDS to realize that your work is worth it!
It’s motivating and helps you feel more satisfied.
How can you celebrate?
Anything that resonates for you!
Do a happy dance! Put your “win” on a list! Give yourself some “me” time, take a bubble bath.
Take a minute to pause and FEEL how the “win” feels in your body.
It’s important to note that it doesn’t have to be huge. Just something that makes you stop and give yourself a big old pat on the back.
