This week on Real, Brave, & Unstoppable, I talk about 10 crappy thoughts you might be having that are holding you back from being happy.
I was inspired to do this episode based on conversations with some of my coaching clients about how happy they are that they invested in coaching, and what made it challenging for them to make the decision to invest in coaching.
I’ve been in the same boat. Several years ago when I felt extremely stuck in my life and was desperately trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life career-wise, I invested in a coach for myself. It was completely out of my comfort zone – I hadn’t ever spent money on myself like this aside from my own college education.
I had to completely change how I looked at investing in myself and my emotional health to jump in and do it.
My scary investment in something that, up until that point I would have NEVER considered, literally changed my life.
What if I hadn’t taken that leap?
I’m afraid to even think about where I’d be right now if I hadn’t.
In this episode, I’m sharing 10 crappy thoughts that I had when I was making the decision whether or not to invest in myself – in my future.
These are also the thoughts that my clients, that have said YES to coaching, had when THEY were trying to make their decision. As well, they are some of the thoughts the people who have said “no” to coaching have also had.
What I found is that when I opened my mind to consider that the beliefs and thoughts I had about investing in myself didn’t have to be true, my worldview expanded. I was able to see that by changing my thinking, I could change the results that I got, and in the end, I didn’t listen to the 10 crappy thoughts I had about investing in myself.
Not listening to those old “default” thinking patterns, and allowing myself to consider different possibilities literally changed my life.
This episode is not an effort to convince you to invest in a coach.
The point of this episode is to make you aware of some of the crappy thoughts that prevent you from getting the results that you want in life – the thoughts that cause you to keep doing things the same way over and over again.
As I like to say, awareness is half the battle, and once you have that, you can start to make shifts that will change your life too.
You can’t get results on willpower and discipline alone. If you don’t change the way you think, you’ll just keep getting the same results over and over again.
